Up in the Air.

Some photographs from my flight from KIX to MNL. Images taken with my phone.

While waiting for my flight back to Manila, sadness suddenly seeped into me. A feeling that validated the end of such a wonderful trip to the Land of the Rising Sun clouded my heart. Mental images of moments I’ve spent wandering around the streets of Osaka, getting lost up at Mt. Hiei, spending more than I’ve planned, taking countless train rides and enjoying each and every bit of them, and simply being awestruck by the beauty of the bamboo grove in Arashiyama. My mind was blocked from any other thoughts aside from these.

I was transported to another world, and all I could think of at that moment were fragments of those memories. The boarding gate through which I would be leaving stood right in front of me. I was thinking of not taking that flight, just so that I could experience those past 10 days all over agin. It’s worth it, I knew. But now isn’t the time for that. It’s not my first time here anyway. I never even thought that I would be visiting Tokyo last year, let alone, come back to the same country this year. Now is the time to go home. Maybe next time, maybe someday, I will come back to this country again.

I hope to see you again soon, Land of the Rising Sun.

"My, what big teeth you have!"

"My, what big teeth you have!"

the sea is calling

I arrive Manila past 1pm from a shoot in Samar; my flight to Busuanga is at 3pm. I’m flying solo again to meet my family and relatives there since they all left the city a day before. But that’s fine. The family trip to Coron was planned way before I got a call to shoot for a local magazine. Of course, I wouldn’t say no to an opportunity like that—to travel, shoot, and get paid all at the same time. That was truly a blessing!

I’m not sure how many times I’ve been to this place. 8, 9, or 10, maybe? But most of those trips were for business with my dad, this particular trip was a vacation with my family and some visiting relatives.
